 Georgeous wooden Hair Stick / Shawl Pin with tribal inlaid design!

 
Measures: approx 2.5 cm ( 1 '') wide (at top) x 18.5 cm ( 7 1/4'') long,
functional length : 11.5 cm (4 1/2")
Made from : Sono wood, white metal inlay,  hand carved
Weight: approx 6 g
 
This is a Hair / Shawl Pin from Tampaksiring, Bali. 
Beautifully made, these decorative hairsticks look very pretty on.   The natural wood is variegated in colour and the simple metal inlaid design on top is very attractive.  Each stick is quite unique as the natural wood has its own markings!  These pins are also very popular as shawl pins, as the wider end will stay put in a loosely knitted shawl or jumper. They give a beautiful touch to your long hair when it is pinned up (see my Guides for bun and updo  ideas, especially the first Guide), and also make a wonderful gift for others.
 
This pin measures approx 2.5 cm in width at the top and 18.5 cm in length (usable length is 11.5 cm), weighing 6 g.   They are made from white metal inlay and Sono wood, a durable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings.  It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty- some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare. These are listed as multiple items, so may differ slightly being handmade from a natural material.
 
This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali.  We first spotted these lovely hairpins in Yogyakarta and bought some there, and by an amazing coincidence we met the maker while travelling home via Bali. We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
