A light, soft, pure cotton, Navajo white colored wrap, serves as a canvas for a
mosaic of block printed floral patterns expressed in shades of indigo, black, goldenrod, and sangria. The combination is extremely
vibrant, yet muted since all dyes used on this shawl come from natural sources,
such as turmeric, indigo, madder and other plants native to Extremely versatile, it can easily serve as a wrap or a shawl for informal occasions. For the first time wash the garment separately, in cold
water. The principal color might bleed slightly during the first wash only.
This situation is common to all hand-dyed fabrics, and does not occur during
the later washes. In order to prolong the life of the shawl avoid using dryers.
This shawl has been created, in Andhra Pradesh, by one of
the last Indian communities that uses exclusively natural dyes, for block
printing in kalamkari style. All of our products are hand-made, and as in most human endeavors imperfections occur. They are an integral part of the gesture and the signature of the artisan. |
