ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This is a superb gem quality whole polished ammonite from the Cretaceous/Jurassic of the Tulear region of Madagascar (approx. 115 million years old) ; one of the Cleonoceras or similar species.

The ammonite details are :

Across the largest diameter: 68 mm

Across the smallest diameter: 70 mm

Across the openning: 120mm

Weight: 158 gms !!

*GEM QUALITY: AA+

THIS AMMONITES' OUSTANDING DETAILS:

This exquisite RARE specimen has a well polished shell in mid brown colour; the majority of the shell has huge flashes of firey RED ammolite* radiating 2"from the centre; the centre features some exquisite irridesecnce.

A beautiful specimen!!

*NB: It is extremely difficult to photograph ammolite & irridescence to give an accurate picture of each specimen as these vary in intensity as the specimen is moved through the light. Your specimen WILL be much better than shown...or your money back!

Unlike many ammonites offered elsewhere on the www, I uncover & polish the centre whorls as far as is possible without compromising the specimens strength. The whole of the shell has been very carefully prepped & polished to a high standard.

This museum quality specimen would make a great addition to any geologists collection; could be used as a fascinating conversation item, home decoration ....or as a beautiful paper weight.
