Having won the 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, Kurt Busch continued with the Sharpie sponsored Roush Racing Ford Taurus for the 2005 season. The 2005 season was the final year for the Ford Taurus, which was replaced by the Ford Fusion in the 2006 season but Busch maintained some of his previous year's success with taking the win in three races during the 2005 season, along with nine top five and 18 top ten finishes out of the 34 races and finishing an overall 10th place in the 2005 Nextel Cup championship.
