Vintage 1948 Father and Son Book MANUAL OF HYGIENE

This is a thick 96 page booklet published in 1948 by Hygenic Productions called "The Manual of Hygene for Father and Son", edited by M.A. Horn; the title page says it was "Prepared from information compiled by eminent medical and hygene authorities of three continents". Not to waste any time, the short Foreward starts with the sentence:

• "The publication of this book answers a definite need in every home for a clear, concicse volume covering COMPLETELY the field of sex hygene.

Following that direct Foreward is the first chapter entitled "Your Boy And His Sex Problems", followed by chapters dealing with puberty, self-gratification, circumcision, sterilization, women's true sexual responsibility, venereal disease, "petting can be dangerous", sexual problems, abnormal sexuality, love, the rhythm method of contraception, marriages and finances, children out of wedlock, and many more serious topics. This has some wild and outrageous advice from today's perspective (which makes for a very entertaining read at times!), and also provides a window into how personal and social issues were viewed 60+ years ago.
