Joseph Hudson, Birmingham, England. Established in 1870 whistle manufacturer in the main but they did manufacture other items such as, animal calls, alberts, leather belts, castanets, violin accessories, button sticks, truncheons and badges.
Alfred De Courcy, Birmingham, England. Founded in 1888 by Alfred De Courcy who left Hudson's to start on his own. A man of Irish descent and a talented engineer. J Hudson bought his business in 1927, he died in 1931.
Here is a unique opportunity to bid on a WW1 officers trench warfare whistle from my own collection. The whistle is commonly referred to as a trench warfare whistle used by officers to command their men to 'Go Over the Top'. C. 1915 J Hudson, nickel silver, no top cap marking, good condition F. 1916, J Hudson, nickel silver, no top cap marking, good condition albeit blemished.
G. 1916, A De Courcy, nickel silver, good condition.
H. 1917, A De Courcy, brass & steel, good condition, blemishes to body.
I. 1918, J hudson, oxidised brass, weathered condition.
